A Day in the Life of a rAVe Trade Show Reporter

A Day in the Life of a rAVe Trade Show Reporter 1201 631 Keri Lartz

Industry trade shows are one of the AV industry’s pillars, which we understand very well here at rAVe. You see, we understand that not everyone can make it to these shows, and we want to bridge that gap for people who aren’t able to attend. We do this by going up to every single booth at the major trade shows and offering to shoot product videos to highlight their products.

Every. Single. Booth.

Doing this is no small feat, but our team has it down to a science. While some strictly shoot product videos, my job entailed being Gary Kayye’s personal videographer for his interviews and booth tours. Have you ever wondered what this might look like? Come with me for a day in the life as a rAVe trade show reporter!

6:00 a.m. – **Alarm Clock Goes Off**

Imagine me letting out a big, loud yawn before rolling out of bed to get ready for the day. Anyone who has seen the rAVe team at shows will know our signature outfit. I put on my black rAVe tee with the rAVe heart and my black pants. Planning the outfit for the day is no difficult task, I just have to make sure my hair is presentable. (Kidding… or am I?)

7:00 a.m. – Meet with the Team

After getting ready, Ethan and I head downstairs to the lobby to meet with our team. After making sure everyone is there and ready for the day, we migrate to the shuttle and go on our merry way to the convention center. Once we arrive, we collectively head to our meeting room.

8:00 a.m. – Prepping for the Day

After settling into our meeting room, our team begins to split around this time. Reporters start gathering and testing equipment, while our team working the booth goes stage the booth and gets ready to give out -t-shirts and set up for “THE GAME.”

9:00 a.m. – Trade Show Floor Opens

The show has begun; our reporters are scattered across the show floor and taking charge! Gary and I have appointments to attend, and the videographers went by every booth, one by one, to take care of business.

11:30 a.m. – Lunch Break

At this point, we have a good feel for the work that is cut out for us for the day, but nothing makes taking on that work quite as enjoyable as doing it on a full stomach. After our latest appointment finishes, we head back down to the meeting room and grab lunch. The team talks about what they saw that morning and plans out the rest of their day!

12:00 p.m. – LIVE for rAVe [TV]

After lunch, we go live for rAVe [TV]. Gary and Steph run the show, Keri runs the stream, and I run the camera and mics. We are a pretty great team, if I do say so myself.

12:30 p.m. – Back on the Show Floor!

After rAVe [TV], Gary and I are back on the floor to cover more appointments. The appointments are back-to-back and include getting to see some cutting-edge technology.

4:00 p.m. – Editing Time

After a long day of fun and hard work, it is time to take a load off my feet and work some more! Emily, Tommy, and I work tirelessly to edit all of the videos we need to get uploaded to ensure we can get all our content out to you as soon as possible!

7:00 p.m. – That’s a Wrap!

The on-site team has called it a day! We end the day with dinner and get some rest at the hotel to be fresh and ready to go for the next day!

As you can see, our days stay packed at the shows! To see the fruit of our labor, check out our microsite, www.ravepubs.com/infocomm. That is where you will be able to see all of the show floor coverage and stay up to date with everything InfoComm related!
