It’s fair to say that going into 2021, no one really knew what to expect from the year. After the woes of 2020, we weren’t sure if things would ever return to normal. Especially in AV, the questions of what hybrid work looks like, whether trade shows would resume in person and really just how to navigate this new environment were unclear.

However, we persisted. LAVNCH grew into an even more robust platform for online events and for connecting the industry in educational and collaborative ways. InfoComm 2021 was a success with its smaller, yet still in-person, audience. Countless products catering to hybrid workspaces, classrooms and more were released. Our tight-knit community helped get us through the tough times, and as we enter the new year, we reflect on the moments that brought us joy and awe this past year in AV.

Among our favorite events from 2021, InfoComm 2021 and our LAVNCH & LEARNs top the list:

“The ScreenBeam LAVNCH & LEARN we hosted was my favorite because there was so much engagement from the audience! I also liked going to my first trade show (InfoComm) because it gave me a better idea of the scope and excitement surrounding them.” – Dianna Dames, Project Manager

“It may sound cheesy but my favorite moment was all of InfoComm 2021. It was so good to be back together with #AVtweeps. From chatting about the latest technology trends to catching up on the past 18 months, it was wonderful to be together IRL.” – Megan A. Dutta, Director of Emerging Markets

“My favorite AV moment from the past year was getting to see so many #AVtweeps in person at InfoComm 2021. It really raised my spirits and helped me realize how much I truly do belong in our industry.” – Steph Beckett, Managing Editor

On the product side, we saw endless products with many different use cases. Here are a few that stood out to us:

“The Newline FLEX — this product is great as a monitor but even better as a personal UCC device. I can use the pen to write, it has a touch screen and setup is super simple! It also comes with a 4K camera that looks great on all my Zoom calls.” – Kelcie Frye, Social Media Marketing Manager

“As I am new to AV, I’ve seen a lot of new stuff this year. My favorite product I saw was Pathway’s eGlass product. Though I am not in school anymore, I believe having this illuminated board with a built-in camera would have made a difference for me as a student. It seems to be engaging, interactive and super smart.” – Katherine Clark, Assistant Editor

“I really enjoyed seeing the Igloo Immersive Media Player this year. Its versatility and display made it most appealing to me. I’d love to use it in our own office space for planning and collaboration.” – Anne-Marie Barr, Art Director

As we end the year with a fond reflection on 2021 and optimism looking forward, there is no doubt of the talent, inspiration and capabilities the AV industry holds, and when things get tough, we stick together.
